Design of broadband tapered helical antennas
Abstract
A synthesis design procedure for wideband helices, based on the performance of single pitched cylindrical helices, is proposed. Experimental investigation and analysis of the gain and axial ratio of tapered helices are conducted. The data reveal that the helices are associated with a return loss greater than 15 dB and an axial ratio greater than 1 dB; the gain decreases as the pitch angles change from 12 to 14 degrees.
