LDA experiments of separated flow behind a circular cylinder
Abstract
This LDA study presents a mapping of the time-averaged turbulent properties for sub-critical flow over a cylinder at a Reynolds number 15,000. Particular emphasis has been placed near the separated region. Length scales are estimated for the separated laminar shear layer, the separation bubble and the formation region. The vorticity thickness and spreading rate are calculated for the separated shear layer. Results are compared with those of previous studies.
