Gasdynamic discontinuities of dusty gas flows
Abstract
The description of heterogeneous flows can be simplified by identifying the gasdynamic discontinuities that are responsible for the abrupt changes in the parameters of the impurity phase. Two types of features are considered - a density jump (shock) in the impurity phase, and the existence of a layer of elevated impurity concentration produced by the interaction between the phases. Both of these features occur near the surface of objects in flows or on the walls of constricted channels, and a simplified description is found for each case. The similarity parameters of the impurity phase are found to play an important role.
