Theoretical and experimental study of the resonance properties of multimode fiber interferometers
Abstract
Calculated and experimental results are reported for traveling-wave fiber ring interferometers with multimode fibers. It is shown that there exist optical pathlengths for which all the guided mode resonances coincide and the interferometer signal is a maximum. The experimental results lend qualitative support to the main conclusions of the theoretical analysis. Resonance signals were observed whose amplitude depended on the input angle of the light and the length of the optical fiber.
