Role of radio-frequency oscillations in a Penning discharge
Abstract
The RF oscillations, energy spectrum, and energy of the electrons in a Penning discharge are studied experimentally. The energy of the electrons reaching the central part of the cathode is shown to range from 10 to 220 eV, depending on the discharge parameters, and a mechanism is suggested for this anomalous behavior.
