Nonstationary energy transfer between high-power opposing pulses in a resonantly absorbing medium
Abstract
The unsteady state energy transfer of opposing radiation pulses of the same frequency in a resonantly-absorbing medium has been investigated theoretically. It is shown that this energy transfer exerts a threshold-like effect in which the pumping power of the pulses is at a minimum with respect to the resonance of the medium and increases rapidly in relation to the intensified radiation power. The range of power increases in the resonant medium due to unsteady state energy transfer is estimated.
