A high-efficiency tunable Al2O3:Ti(3+) laser converter
Abstract
A study is made of the lasing characteristics of an Al2O3:Ti(3+) laser pumped by the second harmonic of a YAG laser. A conversion efficiency of 36 percent (for a differential efficiency of 55 percent) and a tunability range of 680-930 nm have been demonstrated. Second harmonic generation in the LiIO3 crystal and passive Q-switching at F3(-) color centers in LiF have been achieved.
