Separation of a laminar boundary layer from a flat surface
Abstract
An analysis is made of laminar boundary layer separation from the surface of a flat plate situated in an adverse pressure gradient zone. Attention is given to the case when the pressure gradient is induced by a barrier mounted on the plate that is symmetric with respect to the plate plane. Similarity laws are determined which define the position of the separation point as a function of the Reynolds number and the ratio of barrier height to plate length.
