Numerical calculation of a turbulent flow at the initial section of a plane channel with sharp edges on the basis of the discrete-vortex method
Abstract
The discrete-vortex method is used to calculate turbulent flow at the initial section of a simple air intake (a plane channel with sharp edges) with fluid injection at a constant flowrate. Fields of the mean longitudinal and transverse velocities, velocity variances, and the two-point velocity correlation function are determined. Calculation results agree qualitatively with available experimental data, obtained at the initial section of a cylindrical channel with sharp edges.
