Globally optimal coplanar time-free hard rendezvous
Abstract
The fuel-optimal transfer to a set of orbits having a common point with a given orbit is examined. The global character of the optimal solution is understood in the sense of the global satisfaction of the Pontriagin maximum principle. If it is assumed that the motion of the maneuvering spacecraft is limited by the initial-orbit plane, the final set will be a set of orbits situated in the initial-orbit plane and containing at least one of two points: orbit nodes of the passive spacecraft.
