Editorial — comet halley 1985-86: observations from earth and space
Abstract
The initial discovery and prediction of Halley's Comet return are described. The effect of the invention of the telescope, the availability of photography, and space observations on astronomy are discussed. The development of coordinating organizations for comet observers, such as the International Halley Watch, is examined. The utilization of spaceprobes, such as Giotto, to study Comet Halley is investigated.
