Induced scattering of plasma waves by relativistic electron beams
Abstract
A study is made of the excitation of sort-wave electromagnetic radiation resulting from the induced scattering of a Langmuir wave by a relativistic electron beam in an isotropic plasma. In the approximation of a given Langmuir pumping wave, a dispersion equation describing this process is obtained. An analysis of the dispersion equation is made for the case where the charge density wave generated in the beam due to Langmuir wave scattering propagates in the direction of the beam.
