Evolution of the distribution function of charged particles moving in a constant magnetic field and in the field of a plane electromagnetic wave
Abstract
Distribution functions of relativistic oscillators formed by charged particles in a constant magnetic field and in the field of a plane electromagnetic wave are obtained by integrating numerically the equations of motion. An analysis of the distribution functions indicates that under conditions of overlapped cyclotron resonances, the motion of the particles is diffusive, with dispersion and mean energy increasing linearly with time.
