Solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with the approximate factorization technique
Abstract
The application of the approximate factorization method to the solution of the steady state Navier-Stokes equations in the primitive variables, artificial compressibility formulation is outlined. Two dimensional calculations for the flow on a backward facing step and an obstacle of square cross section show a good agreement with other numerical solutions and experimental data, demonstrating the ability of the solver to deal in an efficient way with laminar flows including recirculation.
