Receiver bandwidth effect on link budget in a spread spectrum data relay system
Abstract
A general equation relating signal-to-noise ratios to bandwith is established for the Star project where a link is established between ground and a low orbit satellite via a geosynchronous satellite. It is shown that in spread spectrum transmission the overall performance is improved by upgrading the quality of one of the transmission steps. A redefinition of the Star data link design is discussed.
