The calculation of separated flows of low-viscosity liquids using the Batchelor Model
Abstract
Conditions of applicability and examples of application of the Batchelor Model (BM) are considered. The application of the BM to flow near a plate mounted perpendicularly to a wall at the stagnation point is examined, and a method for solving the corresponding eddy-potential problem is described. The application of a precise form of the condition for determining vorticity is also examined. It is shown that eddy-potential flow cannot be the limit (at Re approaching infinity) of laminar flow behind a step; arguments in favor of an analogous conclusion with regard to flow past blunt bodies are presented.
