A remote controlled calibration device for displacement transducers
Abstract
A mechanical system to calibrate extensometer transducers at ambient temperature in a shielded facility for examining mechanical properties (especially creep) of irradiated materials is described. The system consists of a piezoelectric translator including a microprocessor-based controller in a calibration rig. Two transducers can be verified simultaneously. The equipment was integrated into a computer controlled data acquisition system to provide for the required data processing and analysis. The system functions satisfactorily, showing high resolution and accuracy, and is easy to operate remotely.
