Experiences with the Declination-Inclination (DI) fluxgate magnetometer including theory of the instrument and comparison with other methods
Experience with the DI-flux, a magnetometer made from a theodolite with a fluxgate sensor fixed along the telescope is described. Selected positions where the sensor is perpendicular to the geomagnetic field are found. Declination and inclination can be calculated. The theory and practice of the instrument is treated. Results from six month comparisons with other methods confirm the accuracy of the DI-flux.
