Frequency hopping radio for high frequencies: An experimental system
Abstract
Investigations to find a research facility for studying the fine structure of the ionosphere, and for studying the principles of noiseless high frequency systems are summarized. An experimental HF hopping system for data transmission is described; the hop-rate is 100 hop/sec. The modules of the system, frequency hop routine, data program, software of the microprocessor, derivation of the program synchronization, detector, and demodulator units are reviewed. The system was submitted to a limited testing of the different functions, over an open antenna; no effective test run is reported.
