The Mk.1 NPL digital sampling ac wattmeter
Abstract
The design, testing, and use of a digital sampling wattmeter are described. The wattmeter comprises timing circuits, two analog to digital converters, and a simple microcomputer, with ancillary units. A stable ac oscillator with a phase shifter, attenuators, power amplifiers and passive components is used to generate the required voltage and current independently. The best overall uncertainty achieved is 20 ppm.
