Development of an active laser gyro for inertial rotation sensing in attitude/heading reference and inertial navigation systems, phase 1
Abstract
Based on the experimental setup of an active laser ring interferometer, the fundamentals for a concept definition and assembly specifications for a ring laser gyro were elaborated. Precision machining, assembly techniques and special adjustment procedures for the economical fabrication of a monolithic integrated ring laser gyro were developed. High efficiency laser mirrors were built, and a manufacturing procedure suitable for industrial application was elaborated.
