Mechanics of continua and wave dynamics
Abstract
Various topics on the mechanics of continua and wave dynamics are discussed. The theory of elasticity is considered, including: the main types of strain in elastic solids, waves in rods and vibrations of rods, the general theory of stress and strain, elastic waves in solids, and waves in plates. Fluid mechanics is addressed, including: basic laws of ideal fluid dynamics, potential flow, flows of viscous fluids, elements of the theory of turbulence, surface and internal waves in fluids, waves in rotating fluids, sound waves, magnetohydrodynamics, and nonlinear effects in wave propagation.
