Underground volcanoes discovered with satellite radar
Abstract
The crates of two giant volcanoes have been discovered with the help of satellite radar. One of them is located beneath the scorching sands of the West Sahara, while the other is warming the ice of Antarctica. A radar system developed by Khar'kov scientists in collaboration with specialists of Moscow and Sevastopol made it possible to see the craters. This system is installed on board the Soviet satellites Cosmos-1500 and Cosmos-1602.
