Analysis of automated light guide pulse dispersion measurement
Abstract
The use of a stroboscopic set up employing CAMAC hardware for measuring pulse dispersion in fiber-optic waveguides is described, and a block diagram of the automated setup is presented. It is shown that this instrumentation produces an order-of-magnitude reduction in the time required for the experiment and improves accuracy by the statistical processing of the experimental data. The measurement accuracy of the waveguide passband is 5% at a 0.5 level in the 1-Ghz band for a wavelength of 0.85 micron.
