Interkosmos program of space communication development
Abstract
Countries participating in the Intercosmos space communication development program are Bulgaria, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, the GDR, Hungary, Mongolia, Poland, Romania and the Soviet Union. Joint task groups from these countries are currently working in seven separate areas of development: (1) utilization of new frequency ranges; (2) optimum methods of signal transmission via satellite on the basis of the latest available technology; (3) implementation of principles of interaction between satellite and earth communication systems; (4) development and optimization of complete equipment for ground stations of satellite communication systems; (5) suppression of mutual interference between satellite communication systems and ground services; (6) development of satellite television broadcasting systems in 12-GHz frequency band, construction of prototypes and experimental operation; (7) development of low-noise receiver devices, among them parametric and transistor amplifiers for 3.7-4.2 GHz, 11-12 GHz, and 20-30 GHz ground stations.
