Luminescence photography
Abstract
The development of luminescence photography is traced briefly, and descriptions are given of the photographic process and the principles underlying luminescence photography. It is found that luminescence photography has certain advantages over other types of photography, including the possibility of recording an image on luminescent material so that it cannot be seen under natural light, but can be read out through a luminescent means. This property can be exploited for marking articles and for placing sound tracks on movie film. Luminescence photography can be used to record latent images without using chemical intensification. The use of luminescence photography is determined to a significant extent by the performance of the reproducing equipment.
