Rank algorithm for detecting a signal envelope on the basis of a trend criterion

A modified rank detection rule is obtained that satisfies the trend criterion in the grazing-window mode. This economical rule leads to a twofold reduction in computer expenditures as compared with the original rule without a loss in detection efficiency. The application of the proposed rule to the detection of radar-signal envelopes in the grazing-window mode is discussed.
