Experimental study of an IMPATT-diode oscillator with an open cavity excited by a dipole
Abstract
Experimental results are presented concerning the dipole excitation of an IMPATT-diode oscillator with an open cavity at a wavelength of 8 mm. The output power of the oscillator is studied as a function of the dimensions of the coupling elements. The peak output power is observed when the dipole length is a multiple of an integer of the oscillation half-waves. It is also shown that a resonant linear dipole is efficient both at the first harmonic and at higher harmonics.
