Horn exciter of plane three-dimensional surface waves
Abstract
A method for the synthesis of a horn exciter of plane three-dimensional surface waves is developed which is valid for arbitrary widths of the impedance structure. Results of experiments in which the exciter was used as part of an antenna indicate that the sidelobe level due to radiation from the exciter itself did not exceed -27 dB in the direction of the maximum of radiation in the 7500-10,500 MHz range. This corresponds to an excitation efficiency of eta greater than 0.99.
