Superheterodyne amplification and generation of electromagnetic waves in electron beams
Abstract
The parametric conversion of an electromagnetic pump wave into radiation of higher frequency in an electron beam is analyzed numerically. It is assumed that an electron beam that is infinite in the transverse direction moves in a medium characterized by amplification of a slow space-charge wave. Attention is given to modes of the amplification of the electromagnetic signal wave and generation in the case of signal wave reflecton from the output and input into the interaction space. The occurrence of these processes during superheterodyne amplification in microwave devices is considered.
