Effect of dispersion on frequency tripling in waveguide systems with cubically nonlinear dielectrics
Abstract
The frequency tripling of electromagnetic waves in a cubically nonlinear dielectric inserted in a microwave waveguide system is investigated. The optimal selection of the dispersion characteristics of this system is considered. It is shown that, by means of this selection, it is possible to achieve a significant enhancement (as compared with the case of an unbounded nonlinear medium) in the conversion efficiency through compensation of the nonlinear detuning due to the Kerr effect.
