Electrodynamic theory of a metallic probe
Abstract
An electrodynamic theory of a metallic probe employed for the measurement of the coupling resistance of periodic structures in microwave (especially millimeter-wave) devices is developed which is based on an examination of the diffraction pattern of the perturbed field. The advantages of a metallic probe over a dielectric one are noted; the practical implementation of the metallic-probe technique is discussed; and experimental results are presented.
