Ambiguity function of a signal scattered according to three parameters
Abstract
An analytical expression for a generalized ambiguity function (GAF) is obtained for the electrodynamic model of a radar signal reflected from an extended surface. The GAF parameters (effective width and position of the maximum in various cross sections) are studied as a function of the geometric and statistical parameters of the reflecting surface, and the parameters of the sounding and reference signals, and the receiving-antenna parameters. The results obtained can be used to choose the most effective parameters of the antenna system and the sounding-signal modulation, as well as to evaluate the potential of multipositional measuring systems.
