Investigation of small capacity domestic satellite communications
Abstract
The investigation of small-capacity domestic satellite communications in order to build up the foundations of research and development in such systems is described. It is shown that satellite communications systems, as compared with terrestrial communications networks, are advantageous in small-capacity communications. Some applications of small-capacity communications systems to new fields such as data network systems, data collection systems, and teletext systems, are described. The standardization of a satellite link is shown to be effective in the efficient use of a transponder with many users. Finally, institutional and technical considerations relevant to the future development of small-capacity satellite communications systems are considered.
