Thermooptic fiber attenuator
Abstract
The paper describes the operation of a thermooptic fiber-waveguide attenuator designed on the principle of the controlled refractive index of the medium surrounding the bent section of the device. Losses in the attenuator channels are determined as a function of electroheater current, and the dependence of the optical-signal intensity in the signal channel on optical-radiation intensity in the control channel is examined.
