Excitation of nonperiodic fields in a conical horn
Abstract
An analysis is made of the space-time structure of the electromagnetic field in a conical horn with ideally conducting walls containing a collisionless plasma. The linear approximation is used; the plasma ions are assumed to be immobile; and magnetic-type sources in the case of axial symmetry are considered. An exact solution is obtained for an arbitrary time dependence of the source. The results obtained define the multipole expansion of E and B vectors in the problem of the diffraction of a pulsed-source field by an ideally conducting cone.
