Waveguide properties of a mirror slot line
Abstract
A description is given of a miniature transmission line consisting of a dielectric rod partially shielded by a conducting screen with a longitudinal slot; part of the screen is in the form of a substrate, and the slot is formed by the remaining edge of the screen and the substrate. The basic characteristics of the line are determined using the quasi-static approximation, and experimental results are presented for a line capable of operating at wavelengths of 2.5-12.2 mm. It is noted that miniature millimeter-wave antenna feeds can be designed on the basis of miniature wideband mirror slot lines of the type examined.
