Flow past a suddenly heated vertical plate
Abstract
Steady-state convection flow past a semi-infinite vertical flat plate at large Grashof numbers is analyzed. The analytical approach assumes that the wall temperature varies as a power of the distance from the leading edge of the plate. The equations governing the free-convective flow are reduced from a set of ordinary differential equations by means of a similarity variable. Numerical and asymptotic solutions to the governing equations are given. The case of impulsive heating of the plate is also considered.
