Experimental aspects of two-body ion-ion collisions
Abstract
Experimental results concerning two-body ion-ion interactions are reviewed. The principle experimental techniques used in studies of ion-ion interaction, intersecting ion beams, is described. Emphasis is given to the interaction of positive and negative ions from intersecting beams leading to neutralization, detachment, or association. Some important applications of the study of ion-ion collisions to the aeronomy, fusion and astrophysical processes are discussed.
