Energy dependence of elastic and inelastic scattering of 32S + 32S

Excitation functions for elastic scattering and reactions of ³²S + ³²S at center-of-mass angles (θ _cm) near 90° have been measured in 200 keV steps for the range E_lab = 122-138 MeV. The targets were prepared by implantation of negative ³²S ions in C foils. The excitation functions are relatively featureless in contrast to previous data for ²⁴Mg + ²⁴Mg and ²⁸Si + ²⁸Si. Elastic scattering angular distributions show some evidence for enhanced cross sections near θ_cm = 90°.
