a Hamiltonian Monte Carlo Calculation in Two-Dimensional SU2 QCD with Fermions.
Abstract
We study SU(2) Yang-Mills theory coupled to an unflavored fermion on a two dimensional lattice using the projector Monte Carlo method. This method involves the numerical evaluation of the projection operator onto the lowest-lying quantum state. It is based on a direct-space, imaginary-time representation of the fields. We break up the imaginary time interval into small slices and insert a complete set of states at each time slice. We then break up the hamiltonian and wind up with a local algorithm. The method involves propagation through gauge invariant states defined so that all transitions have positive amplitudes. We study the vacuum energy and the mass of the lightest baryon of the model and conclude that the hamiltonian Monte Carlo method does work.
