Heat transfer and flow resistance in artificially roughened pipes
Abstract
For heat transfer between a gas and a fluid medium, the surface of the gas medium was optimized by using rectangular ribs. To intensify the heat transfer in pipes, a systematic roughening of the surface is proposed and its influence on the flow resistance discussed. A model for the relevant information on the turbulent convective heat transfer in relation to surface roughness is presented.
