A contribution to mass flow measurement following the principle of flow-determined damping
Abstract
Mass flow measurement of air and other gases using baffles damped by the flow was investigated. The oscillation amplitude was held constant and the required compensation power was measured. The measuring domain should go up to 500 kg/hr, and has to be adapted to the requirements of injector control aggregates for passenger vehicles. Construction and testing of a piezoelectrically excited sensor, several electrodynamically excited band oscillators, and a torsional oscillator sensor are described. The characteristics of the different sensors were analyzed, and proposals for further development are given.
