Hard limiting and sequential detecting Loran-C sensor
Abstract
This paper is mainly concerned with an investigation of the possibilities for large scale integration of a Loran-C navigation receiver. The input constraints of a Loran-C sensor are considered, taking into account the Loran-C signal, noise, interference, and a vector representation of disturbers. In a discussion of general Loran-C sensor principles, the Loran-C system is examined along with the linear receiver, the hard-limiter receiver, and the clipped-linear receiver. Attention is given to the output constraints of a Loran-C sensor, the motivating factors in the selection of the hard-limiter receiver type, a physically small low power active antenna, questions of bandpass filter selection, aspects of notch filters, details regarding the hard-limiter sensor, signal processing by means of sequential detection, tracking initializing for low SNR and large clock errors, and latitude-longitude coordinate conversion.
