Physicochemical hydrodynamics; Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference, Tel Aviv, Israel, December 16-21, 1984
Abstract
Various papers on physicochemical hydrodynamics are presented. The topics addressed include: oscillatory thermocapillary flows, generalized scale invariance in turbulent phenomena, cellular structures in Benard-Marangoni instability, turbulent transition process of the spiral vortices appearing in the laminar boundary layer of a rotating cone, instability of a capillary jet in a liquid-liquid system, and transition to turbulence in the wake of a cylinder by interaction between shear layers and a vortex street. Also discussed are: perspectives of vortex dynamics, linear and nonlinear dynamics of free liquid films, generalization of the theory of Rayleigh-Benard instability, evolution of a turbulent spot in the entrance region of a duct, closure problem for turbulence in meteorology and oceanography, exact random solution to Burgers' equation for spatially periodic boundary conditions, and numerical study of Reynolds stress in compressible flows.
