Simultaneous beam-initiated operation of two lasers with a common working mixture

The paper reports an experimental study of the feasibility of achieving lasing simultaneously in two active media: on vibrationally excited HF molecules and on electronic transitions of XeF and KrF excimer molecules. The experimental layout is presented, and the output energy of the HF laser vs. the pressure is determined. Simultaneous lasing of HF and XeF molecules in the composite mixture and their separate lasing in mixtures without Xe or H2 were observed.
