Nonlinear surface waves on a periodic structure
Abstract
General relations are derived for the conditions for propagation of surface waves along the interface between a periodic structure and a nonlinear medium characterized by an inhomogeneous dielectric constant. The results of the study may find application in the fabrication of devices for integrated optics, in the fabrication of slow-wave systems and multilayer mirrors for various fields of electronics, and in the fabrication of frequency filters from the microwave range to the X-ray range.
