RESEARCH NOTES: Ultrarelativistic cyclotron waves in cold collisionless plasmas
Abstract
The conditions of ultrarelativistic cyclotron wave excitation in homogeneous collisionless cold plasmas are studied. When a circularly polarized wave propagates along the external magnetic field, two types of waves with different wavelengths but with the same frequencies and polarizations are found to exist in the ultrarelativistic regime. The possibility of observing the waves is considered.
