Flow structure near the trailing edge of a plate
Abstract
The method of matched asymptotic expansions is used to obtain a solution to the Navier-Stokes equations for large but subcritical Reynolds numbers in a certain region near the trailing edge of a plate, where the flow is also described by the Navier-Stokes equations. Numerical solutions are obtained for a flat plate as well as for a plate with thickness in a wide range of the local Reynolds number Re = 0-100. Results concerning streamline patterns, the characteristics of separation zones, and the distribution of the gasdynamic flow functions on the body surface are presented.
