Observation of optical turbulence in a single mode homogeneously broadened optically pumped molecular laser
Abstract
Huge instabilities leading to chaos are reported in the emission from a single mode homogeneously broadened laser which uses optically pumped NH 3 gas as the active medium and operates on 12.8 μm. Dependent on operating conditions the routes to chaos are predominantly characterised by period doubling and intermittency.
